When using IE8 the drop down menus with the Asp.net Menu Control do not show.
You get the outline of the menu, but there are no menu items in the box. The box the menu should be in, hides the text behind it.
When you click the compatability button, the menu items are displayed.
The problem only happens on some web servers and not others.
In my case, the menu control works fine on my development computer and a couple of web servers from a couple of different companies.
However on one company's web server, the menu items do not show up.
There appears to be a Microsoft hotfix for this problem here.

Reported this to my web hosting company. Will see what happens.
November 7, 2010 update.
My web hosting company applied the fix and the problem was fixed. Later they moved me to a new server and the problem reappeared. I re-reported the problem. They fixed it again. Here is their reply.
The hotfix that corresponds to KB962351 has been superseded with the hotfix KB981201, which contains all fixes that were previously included in KB962351. You should use the hotfix KB981201 to fix the issues described in KB962351. However we have installed the KB981201 from http://thehotfixshare.net/board/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=12053
If you have this problem, give that a try.
